FREAK & FROLIC / THE WORK

WEARABLE ART. MADE ONCE.

Every Freak & Frolic piece is an original composition built through graphics, color, texture and construction, created to exist exactly once.

01 - IT STARTS WITH AN OBSESSION

IT STARTS WITH AN OBSESSION

Music. Movies. Horror. Pop culture. The references that stick with you become the starting point. Each piece begins with an idea, not a template. Graphics, fabrics, colors and textures are chosen around that idea until the composition starts to take shape.

02 - COMPOSED, NOT COPIED

THE PLACEMENT IS THE DESIGN

Graphics aren't simply added to a garment. They're treated as elements within a larger composition, cut, positioned and combined with contrasting fabrics, textures, seams and details until the entire piece works together.

04 - ONE MEANS ONE

ONE MEANS ONE

When a Freak & Frolic piece is finished, that composition is complete. We don't reproduce the exact finished design. Once a piece is collected, it becomes part of the Freak & Frolic Archive.

05 - MATERIALS WITH A PAST

MATERIALS WITH A PAST

Our work incorporates a changing mix of reclaimed, vintage and new textiles, chosen for their graphics, texture, color and character. Using existing materials gives us access to details, wear and references that can't simply be ordered by the yard, and means the raw materials themselves can influence where a design goes next.

06 - SINCE 1999. GONE. BACK.

SINCE 1999. GONE. BACK.

The name isn't new. We started Freak & Frolic in 1999, one of the first online stores built around the custom rave, punk and gothic clothing scene. A real storefront, a real sewing table, a real website viewed through Netscape Navigator and the same name on the window.

Then it went quiet for twenty years.

This is the same instinct, brought back to the surface.

07 - THE MAKERS

MADE BY TWO. MADE BY HAND.

Freak & Frolic is designed and built by Heath and Tara, working side by side from first idea to finished stitch. No factory. No production line. Just two people who make what they make.
